What This Tutorial Covers
Here you will learn how to:
- Configure your profile privacy settings
- Upload or link to your Avatar or Picture
- Customize using MySpace Layouts
- Upload or link to your background image
- Define the color scheme for your page
- Update your "About Me" information

Setting Your Privacy
In the Top Left portion of your "Profile" page, you will see a button
like the one above. Click on it to display your Privacy Settings
Options.

Privacy Settings
On this XTML Drop Down Display Window, you can:
- Make your profile PUBLIC or PRIVATE
- The PUBLIC or PRIVATE setting is active when it's
indicator
is green. In the screen shot to the left,
PUBLIC is active.
- As the descriptions point out, when set to PUBLIC,
any logged in member can interact with your profile page except those
you have blocked. If you want to block someone, you visit their profile
and click the link near their AVATAR that says [ Block this
user posting on your profile ]. They will be automatically added to
your blocked list in your privacy settings display window. They will
not be able to interact with your page in any way.
- As the descriptions point out, when set to PRIVATE
no one can view your profile page except those you have given
permission to.

ACCESSING YOUR "EDIT PROFILE" PAGE: Near the top
left of your Profile Page, Click on "Edit profile" link that looks
similar to this:

Installing Your Avatar OR A Picture Of You

- If you have an Avatar or Picture of yourself stored
on your computer, click to select the Radio Button
then -
- Click on the "Browse" button and locate your Avatar
or Picture in the "File Upload" window, select your image file, click
the "Open" button" scroll to the bottom of the page and click the [
UPDATE PROFILE ] Button.
. . . OR . . .
- If you already have your Avatar or Picture on a web
server, click to select the Radio Button
where it says, "Enter url to image:" then . . . you can
enter the complete URL to your image as in this example:
http://www.YourDamain.com/images/MyPic.jpg
- Once you have completed one to the above options,
scroll to the bottom of the page and click the
[ UPDATE PROFILE ] Button.

Customizing Step 1 Result (Sample)
Your Avatar OR A Picture Of You Should Be Visible Now.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
(You're currently using default avatar) (Click Browse... or Enter url
to choose new avatar image) (Max. width: 70, Max. height: 70). If you
Avatar or Picture image is larger than the maximum allowable, your
picture will look pixilated.

If you have followed the directions to the left
correctly, your Avatar or Picture should display in place of the
default Avatar.

MySpace Layout Option - Step 2
If you want to use a Custom/Prefabricated MySpace
type layout similar to the sample you see below:
- Go to a MySpace Layout site like this one:
CLICK HERE <<(Opens in a new browser
window).
- Look through the different categories till you find
one you like.
- Copy the MySpace Layout Code as directed.
- Come back to your "Edit Profile" browser window.
(Look for the browser button on your task bar if necessary.)
- Paste the code in the field that looks like the
screen shot immediately below.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Profile page and click
on the "Update Profile" button.
- Notice the modules are clear. You can see the background
through the modules text. If you want different colors or a different
background image in your modules, continue to Customize
Even More.

Installing Your Module's Background Image
NOTE: This background
image upload section will only change the background in your profile
modules, not the page background.

- If you have a Background Image stored on your
computer, click to select the Radio Button
then -
- Click on the Browse Button and locate your Background
Image in the "File Upload" window, select the image and click the OPEN
button (Bottom right), then scroll to the bottom of the page and click
the
[ UPDATE PROFILE ] Button . . . OR . . .
- If you already have your Background Image on a web
server, click to select the Radio Button
where it says, "Enter url to image:" then . . . you can
enter the complete URL to it as in this example:
http://www.YourDamain.com/imabes/MyPic.jpg
- Once you have completed one to the above options,
scroll to the bottom of the page and click the
[ UPDATE PROFILE ] Button.

Customizing Step 2-b Result (Sample)
Your Background Image Should Be Visible Now In Each
Module. In this example I used a light blue marble background.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
(You're currently using default background color WHITE.) Click
Browse... or Enter url to choose new background image) (Max. width:
500, Max. height: 1280).
ALSO NOTE: Your background images will "TILE" (Repeat across
and down the display area). Lighter colored backgrounds work better.

If you have followed the directions to the left
correctly, your Background Image should display in place of the default
white background or MySpace layout background.

Setting Your Color Scheme

The numbers in red above
correspond to the numbers in the "Result (Sample)" to the right.
Those without numbers above will be covered in the "Features" Section.

To
change/set your page colors you can use the colors available on the
color picker. Just click on the Palette icon next to the adjacent field.
The Color Palette will open. (NOTE: You
may have to scroll up to see the Color Palette.)
Click on the desired color in the 265 colors, color picker. It will
change the color in the field indicator box and change the HTML Color
Code. |
. . OR . . You can use the 1024 Colors Pantone Color Chart with color
coordinated palettes HERE

Using the Pantone Color Chart, you will have to copy and paste the HTML
color code into the field you want to be that color. When you have
set your colors, scroll down and click on the UPDATE PROFILE
button. |

Customizing Step 3 Result (Sample)
This is just a screen shot of one module after changing
the colors using the Colors Theme section of your "Edit Profile" page.
As well I have added a few photos of one of my favorite singers.

Your ABOUT ME information fields are located
below the color/text fields and are all pretty straight forward. Just
type in or copy and paste in the information you want to be shown for
the different subjects into their appropriate fields.
